Modify Synopsis

After publishing a synopsis for a funding opportunity, a Grantor with the Manage Synopses role can still modify a publicly posted synopsis and a synopsis with a future post date. Modifying a posted synopsis or a synopsis with a future post date follow the same steps; only the system notifications are different:

  • Modifying a Posted Synopsis: The modifications will be made public and subscribed applicants will be notified of the modifications once you finalize the changes. Modifying a synopsis is separate from modifying a package because they are two separate components of the opportunity, so the Updated Dates for synopses and packages are not connected.

  • Modifying a Synopsis with a Future Post Date: Synopses that have a post date in the future can be modified without applicants being notified and without the record of these modifications being made public. This is because the synopsis is not yet publicly posted. After the synopsis is posted, any future modification comments will be emailed to subscribers and made public so applicants know what has been modified based on the original posted synopsis.

  • Modifying a Draft Synopsis: The modifications to a draft synopsis are not public because it has not yet been published to the public.

How to Modify a Published Synopsis

  1. Select the grant opportunity from the Manage Opportunities page. You may need to use the search box at the top of the page to locate the specific funding opportunity. You can search by Opportunity Number, Opportunity Title, CFDA, Category, and Components.

  2. Click the Manage link on the desired funding opportunity. You will be taken to the Manage Opportunity page.

  3. Click on the Synopsis tab.

  4. Click on the Modify button under the Manage Synopsis Details section. You will be directed to the Modify Synopsis page.

  5. Make the necessary modifications under the General Information, Eligibility and Additional Information sections.

  6. The Send Change Notifications via Email checkbox is automatically selected for both posted synopses and synopses with a future post date. Only if you are modifying a posted synopsis will subscribed users be notified via email of this modification. (This feature is not available when modifying a draft synopsis). If you do not want to send a change notification, deselect the checkbox.

  7. Enter a description of your changes in the Modification Comments box. If you are modifying a draft synopsis, the Modification Comments box is optional.

  8. Click the Publish button. You will be directed to the Modify Synopsis Confirm page. This is a read-only screen to verify your changes to the synopsis.

  9. Click the Publish button to finalize the changes, or click the Modify button to go back and make further revisions.

Once you have successfully published your modified synopsis, you will be directed back to the Synopsis tab of the Manage Opportunity page. A success message will read, “Synopsis Successfully Published.” Please note that it may take several minutes for the changes to be made public.
