Manage Opportunities

When publishing an opportunity on Grants.gov, you are establishing a framework to post grant forecasts, synopses, and application packages. First, you create an opportunity, then you can create separate components within that opportunity (i.e., a forecast, a synopsis, or packages). Before beginning this process, a user must be assigned specific roles by the main agency point of contact. Refer to the list of Agency Role Definitions on the Manage Roles help article for more information about roles.

In the left navigation menu under the Grantor Opportunities header, the Manage Opportunities link directs users to the Manage Opportunities page. From this page, Grantors can create, delete, copy, and manage grant opportunities, as well as export data.

When reviewing the Results table on the Manage Opportunities page, the Packages with Inactive Forms column indicates whether any existing packages contain outdated form(s) that should be updated to the latest, approved version.

Informative status

Note: Forms are managed at the template level, so please refer to the Grantor Templates section to learn more about creating and modifying application package templates with active forms.

The Last Updated Date column, meanwhile, indicates when changes were last made.

Actions and Buttons

The following actions and buttons may be available to Grantors on the Manage Opportunities page. Some of these links, such as Manage and Delete, are only available after performing a Search for existing opportunities.

  • Search: Enter the applicable search criteria, then click the Search button to find existing opportunities by your agency. You may click the Search button with no criteria to return results of all the existing opportunities by your agency. Narrow your search by checking Forecast, Synopsis, or Packages under the Components heading.

  • Export Detailed Data: Clicking the Export Detailed Data button generates an Excel file of the current search results.

  • Create New Opportunity: Clicking the Create New Opportunity button initiates the opportunity creation process. This includes creating a forecast, creating a synopsis, creating a single-project application package, and creating a multi-project application package.

  • Manage: Clicking the Manage link in the Actions column enables Grantors to manage the forecasts, synopses, related documents, and application packages.

  • Delete: Grantors with access to this link in the Actions column can delete an existing opportunity. When this link is clicked, a Delete Opportunity pop-up window appears, giving Grantors the option to send email alerts to users who have subscribed to the opportunity.

  • Copy: Grantors may copy an existing opportunity to use as the starting point for a new opportunity.
