Individual Applicant Registration
Federal grants are a form of federal assistance used to carry out a public purpose authorized by a law of the United States. None of the opportunities on grants.gov are available for personal financial assistance, student loans, or starting a small business. For information about personal financial assistance benefits, please visit USA.gov.
Individuals can apply for opportunities from certain Federal agencies. Users submitting grant applications on their own behalf—and not on behalf of a company; state, local or tribal government; academic institution; or other type of organization — must add an Individual Applicant profile to their account. You can add a profile when you register on Grants.gov.
If you already have an account, you can always add an Individual Applicant profile (or Organization Applicant profiles) after you login.
To apply for an opportunity as an individual through Grants.gov you do not need to register with SAM.gov, add or manage participants or roles, or notify an Authorized Organization Representative (AOR) to submit a funding application. These features and steps are designed for organization applicants.
